My life is one that has been filled with animals of all shapes and sizes from an early age. I was brought up on a small holding, and have been heavily involved with horses and dogs throughout. My dad was always buying and selling horses and took in all kinds of dogs that were either neglected or had nowhere to go. So, I was surrounded by animals and eventually these became my passion. During those years I’ve built up an understanding of how and why dogs behave the way they do, and that has enabled me to have a special connection with them. So , because of this understanding I’ve spent years in close contact with dogs through dog boarding and re-homing, quietly building up more knowledge and that led me gaining an accreditation in canine behaviour and training. Experience over the years has taught me compassion, patience and a deep respect of the way dogs see the world. How they always forgive even after being badly treated, they can still wag a tail. We must learn to understand their language if we want to succeed and that’s part of my job, teaching owners how the dogs brain works.
I certainly believe in positive reinforcement, however like children, dogs need direction. They need boundaries and limitations. Not all negative behaviours can be solved by throwing food at them. So, balance is needed.

Working together for you and your dog(s)
Why they are so important and when they should be used.
Used correctly and in the right hands e collars do have a place in effectively training a dog that has some communication issues. And let’s be honest, e collars are controversial. However, when used by someone without the right understanding, any training tool can be aversive. The hands and the energy behind them can be a deciding factor whether something is kind or cruel. Dog owners should be taught how to properly use e collars under professional supervision, and condition their dogs appropriately with care and sound judgement. The safe use of e collars have been instrumental in helping to save thousands of dogs worldwide from being euthanised, given them new homes and the chance to feel safe, and with the freedom to be off lead in any environment.. To that end there will be training days available in England at a designated location, where dog owners who feel they are at the last chance saloon can learn how to use the equipment, and will be given the opportunity to to try them out. I can absolutely guarantee. 100% that any owner who takes up this opportunity will never look back.

Having lost my beloved lad x rotty dog Rose very suddenly at the age of ten, and saying I wasn’t going to look for another one…. but if one found me, then I would consider it. Bonnie found us. Del is the wife of my farrier Bob. Bonnie was sent to Del for training as she was being rather defiant and not responding to her elderly owners. Del had her for nearly three weeks and during that time Her owners decided to part ways with her as they couldn’t cope with her energy and strength. Del worked her magic and Bonnie is a reformed character and so well behaved. I take her running with me 2 or 3 times a week and she’s just by my side, no running off or chasing pheasants any more. No pulling on the lead, and she’ll sit and stay where I tell her when I’m moving the horses. In fact, because she is so good I’m thinking of doing some research regarding her becoming a hospital support dog. Lesley Tombs.
I’ve been struggling with Rwbi for a while. Walking her has been the biggest issue as she’s so absorbed with sniffing, that she pulls me along the pavement, and my hips are not in the best condition. By accident my husband was out with Rwbi at the park and noticed Delina training her dog. So he went over and asked if she could help us out. We had already seen another trainer but that hadn’t worked out. Delina came over and spent some time at out home explaining a few things and showed us how to walk Rwbi correctly. I realised that once was not enough and there were other issues that needed addressing. Delina helped us to understand that it wasn’t just about the walk, but it was also her behaviour inside the house and getting out of the house for a walk. There’s so much more to it than we realised, and so with her help we are slowly getting to the bottom of these problems. Rwbi seems to be responding well. She’s listening and I have been shown that to gain respect from Rwbi, I have to mean what I say and follow through. Every time. So thanks Delina, a chance meeting has turned out to be a great decision.
Del has worked wonders with Alfie. She showed me where I was going wrong, and I had no idea that it was me who was sending all the wrong signals. Alfie was such a nuisance as he jumped up and scratched anyone who called in. Now he’s a good boy and sits down quietly. She taught me how to go through the door without him pulling my arms off and then took him for an weeks holiday and worked with him so he would stay by my side instead of getting in front of me all the time. He’s very strong and I’ve had a knee operation so I needed him to be good on walks. I’m so pleased and Del’s a brilliant teacher. fantastic. Thankyou Del.
Del had Lenny for a few days and had her husband drive up and down the road with a trailer full of scrap metal. Plus she got him in a slip lead. It’s made a massive difference. Now he’s concentrating on me instead of what’s going on around him
